NANTWICH ended a superb season on a high note with a six-wicket victory over Didsbury at Whitehouse Lane.

The result means Ray Doyle’s side finish the Cheshire County League Premier Division campaign in second place, 13 points behind champions Chester Boughton Hall.

Didsbury won the toss and elected to bat, but the three-pronged Nantwich attack of Jimmy Warrington, Oliver Freckingham and Oliver Griffiths tore through their order.

Freckingham finished with figures of 4-50 as the visitors were skittled for 163, with Warrington and Griffiths picking up three wickets each.

Irish international Niall O’Brien led the way with the bat in reply, smashing 77 from just 53 balls to guide Nantwich to the verge of victory.

When he fell, Alex Paterson (31) and Luke Robinson (32) remained unbeaten to steer the Dabbers to victory.
