SCHOOL pupils from Crewe and Nantwich got a glimpse of the future in sessions and workshops at South Cheshire College this week.

Around 800 year ten students from partner schools flocked to the top college to take part in the Secondary College project.

The annual event gives them the chance to see what college is all about and sample different aspects of the curriculum.

Pupils took part in sporting activities, learnt how to repair cars in the college’s motor vehicle department, cooked up treats in the kitchens and tried woodwork and brickwork.

This year pupils from Sir William Stanier (Lime Tree), King’s Grove, Ruskin, St Thomas More, Sir William Stanier and Springfields all took part in the action-packed initiative.

The college’s head of schools liaison Mike Finney said: “Secondary College is a great opportunity for prospective students to come and visit South Cheshire College.

“Many of them are just over a year away from joining us here so they gained a sneak preview of what we have to offer before they attend open days and interviews.

“The programme helps the young people decide what course will best prepare them for their future, familiarise themselves with the campus and meet pupils from other schools.”

Pupils chose a number of different curriculum options to take part in during the three-day event and activities were co-ordinated by college tutors, supported by teachers from the local schools.
