A MIDDLEWICH man must complete 40 hours of unpaid work after he admitted wasting police time.
Steven Moran, of Warmingham Lane, made a false report to Cheshire Police on August 5 last year.
Using a fake name, the 51-year-old called police to report the assault of a woman by two men arguing over drugs at an address in Holmes Chapel.
Cheshire Police confirmed officers twice attended the address, before leaving a note through the door.
After being contacted by the occupant, officers attended Moran's address where he again used a fake name.
Following an investigation into the incident, Moran was arrested and charged with causing wasteful employment of police.
Moran pleaded guilty to the charge on February 22 this year and appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on March 25 for sentencing.
The bench handed him a 12-month community order in which he must complete 40 hours of unpaid work and up to 25 days of rehabilitation activity.
