A WOODLAND adventure theme park just along the A49 has won another award to add to its growing collection.

BeWILDerwood Cheshire scooped Marketing Project of the Year at the Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards beating off tough competition from Chester Zoo and Tatton Park.

The outdoor woodland attraction, which is at Bickley Moss between Tarporley and Whitchurch, was praised for its innovative and reactive approach to last summer’s ongoing wet weather, using its popular characters to encourage visitors to have fun even in the rain with their Make a Sploosh at BeWILDerwood campaign.

The theme park is based on the magical and enchanting books by author and creator Tom Blofeld and a day spent at BeWILDerwood promises to inspire imaginations.

Lydia Sharkey, head of marketing and media Lydia Sharkey said: “We found that the children coming to play really didn’t mind if the sun was out or if it was raining, and that a giant puddle can be a great deal of fun with a little imagination!

“So, we tied this in with our beloved character Mildred from the BeWILDerwood books - the friendly Crocklebog - and that’s where Make a Sploosh at BeWILDerwood began.

“Despite the wet weather the whole team pulled together to ensure our visitors had the best time in the woods with wet weather challenges and a Make a Sploosh competition.

“It was great to see visitors in full rain suits and wellies, jumping in puddles and just enjoying the great outdoors.

“We’re so thrilled to have won another award.

“We’re a small team, so this really means so much to us.”

In the past three years, the popular visitor attraction was named as Best New Event for BeWILDerwood Presents Christmas and Large Visitor Attraction of the Year 2022/2023.

BeWILDerwood is open every day from this Thursday, March 28, with a whole host of Easter themed activities.
