LABOUR'S sport minister has given his backing to candidate Tamsin Dunwoody on the by-election trail in Nantwich.

Andy Burnham MP joined Tamsin Dunwoody on a visit to Nantwich Town football club.

The club was promoted at the start of the month to the Unibond Premier Division, their second promotion success in as many years.

Tamsin Dunwoody said: "Nantwich Town is clearly a club on the up.

"Having moved into a new stadium and won promotion two years in a row, its no wonder more and more people want to watch them play.

"I was really pleased to bring Andy Burnham here to see such a great local success story.

"This club, like the Alex, is a vital part of our community.

"I just hope that their winning streak rubs off on me!"

Mr Burnham added: "I was really pleased that Tamsin brought me to Nantwich Town to meet the club.

"They have done fantastically well to win back-to-back promotion.

"They are a real example to lower league clubs across the country.

"The money Nantwich won from the Football Foundation has been instrumental to the success of this team and I was pleased to come and view the new stadium today.

"It is clear to me that Tamsin cares passionately about this community and, just like her mum, will stand up for local people."

I must admit, I was a bit angry when Tamsin was parachuted in from Wales just because she was a Dunwoody.

But, I have been greatly impressed by her and her grasp of the big issues - such as why it was important to compensate the 10p tax loosers and the dangers of unregulated Muslims preachers in the community.

Keep up the good work Tamsin, go make your mother proud.

Oh yes Jonny Boy, Tamsin Dunwoody really does have a grasp of the big issues, take for instance attacking the Tory for having a big million pound plus house. Did it not occur to her that Tony Blair her once-leader just bought another one for £4,000,000, not that really does show a clever mind.

How good to read some positive comments for once. Thank you, Jonny Boy. Such a contrast to the negativity of Sue Normanton. What Mr.Blair's new house has to do with Crewe,God only knows!

Precisely Chris of Sussex - what has you in Sussex to do with Crewe? At least I am in the constituency.
The point is very simple but obviously escaped you. Tamsin Dunwoody accused the Tory of being a toff because of the price of his house, and yet Tony Blair, the Labour PM that was has just brought one worth £4,000,000 the point being that Labour have nothing to say except attack the opposition as they have little to promote for themselves.

Unless it has escaped M/s Normanton's attention, Mr. Blair is no longer in government and is not aspiring to be elected to Parliament. I cannot, therefore, imagine what his acquisition of a new house has anything to do with current politics. Incidently, as for M/s Normanton's rude inference that I have no right to comment on the by-election, I should point out that I used to live in Nantwich and my mother and two sisters and their families still do. Even non-Tories do have a right to express their views in a democracy.
