Voices' season climaxes with The Mikado
SANDBACH Voices will be staging a concert version of Gilbert and Sullivan's, The Mikado on May 17 at Sandbach Town Hall.
Martin Cook, conductor and musical director, is fielding a wealth of highly skilled talent for the final concert of their 60th singing season.
Part of the Mikado will be sung by Phil Widle, who describes himself as an archetypal amateur tenor and a veteran of the Gilbert and Sullivan scene.
Soprano Suzanne Winter will sing part of Yum Yum.
Her recent solo performances include Mozart's Mass in C, Durufle's Requiem and Schubert's Mass in G.
Contralto Deirdre Rogers will be heard in the role of Katisha.
Her recent oratorio work includes Handel's Messiah and Vivaldi's Gloria.
She is also set to be the alto soloist for the North West premiere of Karl Jenkins, The Armed Man' this summer at the Buxton Festival.
The performance will start at 7.30pm.
Concert tickets cost £8 and can be bought on the door or by calling 01270 841727 or 01244 540511.
There is free admission for accompanied children under 16.
