WHO are we going to give £61,820 annual salary and in excess of £150,000 annual expenses to?
If they work 40 hours a week it equals £101.83 per hour to employ them. What will they really do for us, or what have they really done to us?
10p' to 20p' doesn't sound much when you say it fast, or slowly for that matter, nor does it sound bad emptying the dirty bins fortnightly, after all, who has to suffer the sickening smell they give off in the summer, and who really cares, who's really bothered?
Well let's have a closer look at what it costs some of us in Crewe & Nantwich: Gordon can't afford to give you 10p back, why? Cos it'll cost £9Billion, and anyway, only 5.3 million people are effected, and of that only 10,000 people in Crewe & Nantwich, not that many hey? According to David Cameron, nice chap, bumped into him in Crewe last Tuesday, said "don't worry", by the way, David Cameron also says he can't give your 10p back either!
Only 10p more, well, if you take £9billion (£9,000,000,000) and divide it between 5.3 million (5,300,000) that equals an average of £1,698.11 extra income tax a year for each person who was on the 10p tax rate, or so it seems. Weekly it means you pay an extra £32.66 if you are over 22 years and on the minimum wage of £5.52 an hour and work 40 hours a week.
To keep your wage the same you have to work overtime to pay the extra tax, However, you are taxed on your overtime at 20% and National Insurance is charged at 11% on top, that means for every hour you work overtime you pay £1.71p in tax and N.I. So to pay £32.66 extra tax a week, remember both Gordon Brown and David Cameron can't afford to give it back, YOU have to work over eight and a half hours at £5.52, to earn the £47.32 you need to pay the tax. "How much?" I hear you ask; let me explain, you have to pay £14.66 Income Tax and National Insurance on the £47.32 you earn from your overtime, this leaves you with the £32.66 to give to Gordon to cover the 10p tax rise they can't afford to give you back! You come out with NOTHING and you still have to pay the petrol to get to and from work! Now you know why Gordon Brown' and David Cameron' say they can't give you 10p back.
Now decide who you are going to give £61,820 annual salary and in excess of £150,000 annual expenses to. Has the time come for this town to have a true Independent Member of Parliament to represent us the people, someone who will really try and give us what we actually are asking for and not what they decide we will get, and it's not much we actually want? Dirty bins emptied weekly and tax back to 10p, and if, while you're on, cut the VAT on petrol and diesel to Zero until fuel prices are back to reasonable level, let's leave pensions for now, is it me or am I just dreaming? Please don't waste your vote on someone who is not listening but says they are, some one who doesn't understand but says they do, cast your mind back to the war memorial, who was listening? Who said they understood? Who was really listening to the people of Crewe & Nantwich then and who is honestly and truthfully listening to us now? Its time for YOU to decide!
