| Could Edward Timpson be the 'heir to Blair'? | | 11:19am Monday 12th May 2008 | | WE HAVE now received two election leaflets from Labour regarding Edward Timpson's mansion. One leaflet was received on May 8, the day of Gwyneth Dunwoody's funeral, which was shameful to say the least. |
| Crewe & Nantwich by-election could be dreadful! | | 10:54am Wednesday 7th May 2008 | | THE Crewe and Nantwich by-election looks like it's going to be close. The idea of a Tory MP for our area fills me with dread. They already run the council (badly!), and without a strong voice to stand up for us, I'm concerned the council will ride roughshod over Crewe. Especially given that Mr Timpson appears to be a wealthy rural Cheshire type - I don't see what this remote figure can offer working people in Crewe. | | Reader comment (1) |
| We should reduce our intake of red meat. | | 10:56am Tuesday 6th May 2008 | | WE'VE been hearing a lot in the media lately about the world food shortages, with plenty of speculation about how this situation has come about. One particular factor that people like to dwell on is the India-China effect. Economic growth in these countries has been gradually increasing wages so that now more people can afford to eat meat on a more regular basis and that's just what they do. |
| Don't forget what the little red envelope is for! | | 10:50am Tuesday 6th May 2008 | | BEFORE the parliamentary by-election on May 22, many windows will display posters in party colours. But there will be some posters in which all the colours are included. Lots of pieces of paper will come into our letterboxes, but many houses will also receive a familiar red collection envelope. Armies of canvassers will appear on our streets, identified by coloured rosettes. But many houses will also be visited by members of local churches, each identified by a simple white rectangular badge. |
| Look what DFS van has done! | | 10:45am Tuesday 6th May 2008 | | I SENT a photograph to the Guardian of damage done to the grass verge and the pavement on Albion Street at the junction of Doddington Road. |
| Cllr Cartlidge is taking responsibility for Queens Park | | 11:40am Monday 28th April 2008 | | MAY I commend Cllr Roy Cartlidge for taking responsibility for the work being done in Queen's Park (Readers' Letters, April 23)? It takes a broad-shouldered man to accept liability for such a shambolic disgrace. A golden opportunity to create something truly unique has been squandered by cultural Philistines. |
| The Lions Club thanks supporters of concert. | | 11:37am Monday 28th April 2008 | | THE members of the Crewe and Nantwich Lions Club, through the columns of your newspaper, would like to thanks all those who supported the Concert, held at the Civic Hall, Nantwich, in February, with the Crewe Male Voice Choir and the Lions Youth Brass. |
